Here’s some pictures of our July & August sessions of summer club! The kids’ had a ton of fun playing outside, taking Japanese lessons and doing some indoor games! Thanks for joining us, we can’t wait for next year!
It was an honor yesterday to celebrate the growth and progress of two very dedicated karate practitioners. You both did a fine job at your grading, and I know I speak for everyone here at the Shiseikan when I say that we’re grateful to have such fine gentlemen as part of our dojo family. Thank you for your passion, generosity, and unwavering dedication to the dojo – you bring out the best in everyone you interact with here. I also want to express my gratitude to your spouses for their ongoing support and sacrifice, without which, now of what we have accomplished together would have be possible.
Congratulations to the newest Junior Black Belts of Authentic Karate Training Center. Your performance at today’s exam truly spoke for itself. It was clear from watching you that the dedication and devotion you bring to your practice separate you from the field, and we couldn’t be more proud of the young men you have turned into. Omedeto gozaimasu!

The Authentic Karate Training Center Staff
I can not begin to express how gratifying it was to see the hard work and dedication of so many amazing students pay-off yesterday at the 2017 United Uechi Invitational. I felt like I was beaming with pride as I witnessed the great sportsmanship and positive attitudes demonstrated by the competitors, teachers, and their families throughout the day. The level of competition displayed at the tournament spoke for itself and the intensity of the competitors was palpable. I was beyond impressed with the technical precision and spirit of the performances. One thing is for sure – the future of Uechi-Ryu is in good hands! Of course, I would be remiss not to recognise the officials for their hard work and commitment to this event. Your countless hours of training to prepare for judging showed in your professionalism and objectivity. You ARE the reason why this event is the premier Uechi-Ryu karate tournament in New England, and I’m grateful for your support. Lastly, I would like to extend a very special thank you and congratulate sensei Robert Spoon, sensei Andrew Moores and sensei John Scully for their tireless work in helping to create and make possible this extraordinary event for the future generations of Uechi-Ryu. Arigatogozaimashita!
The Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, said it best – ‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.’
Intention is powerful, but it’s different than action. Taking action, regardless of how small or seemingly insignificant, is the essence of true living. Without action nothing can begin. Every extraordinary accomplishment in life started the exact same way – with the first step.
I reflect on this every time a new person walks into the dojo for the first time.
It’s meaning is profound and for a time, I considered inscribing the words permanently on the dojo’s entrance.
